This weeks route takes us to a new area that will provide excellent scenery and challenging climbs. The route meanders through the north and western hills of the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu.
We’ll start in Westlake Village off the 101 and head to Malibu Lake before tackling the famous climb called the Snake just past The Rock Store. A nice descent (& rest) on Encinal Canyon & Decker takes us to the coast. After a few miles along the ocean the long climb up Yerba Buena begins. After a bit more rolly terrain on Mulholland Hwy we’ll scream back down into Westlake Village.
The start is in the parking lot near Starbucks on Agoura Rd in Westlake Village (near 101 & Westlake Blvd), see this map for the exact start location- https://goo.gl/maps/FGJVBuem24fjirTP6
There are restrooms at businesses near the start. There is also water & restrooms at the Rock Store (mile 9.4), at Leo Carrillo State Park (mile 22.9), at Neptune’s Net (mile 24.8) and at a couple of trail heads on the Yerba Buena climb (mile 30.5 & 31.5).
Clip-in is at 9:30am.
