12/6/25 OCRR Remote Ride - Palomar East Grade from Santa Ysabel
If you’re like me you probably over enjoyed Thanksgiving by eating way too much on top of less than your usual amount of exercise. Now’s your chance to get back on schedule (scale & ride-log wise) and burn off some excess weight while riding to the top of Palomar Mountain. We start the ride on Saturday in Santa Isabel to tackle the 11 mile ascent of the East Grade of Palomar. If you feel the need for extra calories just before the ride they can be had from the Julian Pie Co

11/29 Santiago and others….
To all, Sincerest apologies for the late post! I had a massive, frankly embarrassing, screw-up with the ride organizer spreadsheet. Let's just say "VLOOKUP" and I are currently not speaking. To atone for this organizational sin, I'm posting a ride that is painfully hard (with plenty of hills that can be easily skipped).  You will suffer, and I will feel better about my administrative incompetence. It’s the cycling circle of life! Consider this the "Spreadsheet Shame Suffer-fe

11/22 Round Two: Loops Close to Park
To All Fellow Risk-Takers and Weather Skeptics, Let's attempt to ride this bike again! The current weather forecast is a delightful, rain-free paradise for this Saturday. However, my trust in weather forecasters sits comfortably on the same level as my trust in economists . Therefore, in the spirit of guarded optimism and self-preservation, let's stick close to the park. That way, if the sky decides to open up, our retreat won't require a search-and-rescue team. We're aiming

11/1 Saturday OC rebels- Dana point or Bust
Alright Rebels… time to earn that ocean view! We’re heading to Dana Point this Saturday — but first, a little warm-up: the savage hills of Laguna Niguel. 😈 They’re steep. They’re mean. They’ll make you question your life choices. But the coast is calling, and the view at the top makes it all worth it. 🌴 On the way back, it’s mostly flat — perfect for pretending you’re in the Tour de France during the final victory lap. So bring your snacks, your best climbing grunt, and you

10/25/25 OCRR Newport Coast + Back Bay + Portola
Note: small route revision! In CDM we will turn left onto Poppy from PCH and hook up with Bayside for the ride over to Back Bay. Back by "popular demand", this repeat of last year's ride starts off with a climb up Newport Coast including Ridge Park Rd which then gives way to a more stress-free and scenic ride as we skim the west banks of Back Bay at Castaways, continuing up through Irvine on the bike path to Portola Pkwy and back down to Windrow Park. Those wishing to skip Ri

10/18/25 Silverado Canyon
To All, We will have some great weather this Saturday, so let's go to Silverado Canyon. Our coffee stop is not until mile 39, but we can stop at the store in Silverado Canyon around mile 20. I recall we found a porta-potty somewhere in Silverado, but I don't remember exactly where. RWGPS https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44521088
